DeLand, FL - Volusia County Schools (VCS) says that routine temperature checks will no longer be conducted. District officials say that the decision comes after consultation with the Volusia County Health Department and it's also in keeping with current CDC guidelines.

From a press release issued by Cindi Lane, accredited public relations specialist (APR) for the District:

According to the CDC, “Based on the best available evidence at this time, the CDC does not currently recommend schools conduct symptom screening for all students on a routine basis.”

Volusia County Health Department Administrator Patricia Boswell told VCS it’s important that families, “…continue to monitor your children for symptoms of infectious illness every day through home-based symptom screening. Students who are sick should not attend school in-person.”
