Holly Hill, FL - The second reading of an anti-tethering ordinance in Holly Hill will be heard tomorrow night by the Holly Hill City Commission. A definition of "adequate shelter" has been added to the ordinance due to the efforts of Debbie Darino, who also wrote Ponce's Law.
Holly Hill Mayor Chris Via is pretty adamant about how pets should be treated, saying about the ordinance, "It's to make sure that people that own dogs are not keeping them outdoors all day long in the blazing heat. If you're going to be a pet owner, you better be a good pet owner and not keep them outside where they can suffer from heatstroke and what-not."
Via says the Commission wanted to add the definition of "adequate shelter" to the ordinance to make sure that people provide shelter for their pets and have a clean, filled water dish for the animal.
Biketoberfest begins on Thursday and Holly Hill, along with the city of Ormond Beach, said yes tot he event in their cities. Via says Holly Hill is business-friendly. "We're allowing our businesses along U.S. 1 to be able to file for and receive special event permits so that way, they can make sure that they can capitalize on this Biketoberfest. There have been absolutely no problems."
