DBPD Charges Lyft Driver With Battery

Daytona Beach, FL - A Daytona Beach Lyft driver is being held without bond at the Volusia County Jail after Daytona Beach police officers say he attacked a would-be passenger. The victim, a witness and even the suspect, 58-year-old Victor Shenderov, all reported the same information to police.

The female victim  told officers that a friend had made the ride request for her. He advised her that the vehicle picking her up at the 7/Eleven store located at 301 South Peninsula Drive was a gray Nissan Armada, bearing Florida tag PIIR20, and that the driver's name was Victor.

The Armada pulled into the parking lot and stopped at which point the victim got into the backseat, leaving the door open.  The driver, Shenderov, told the victim that he was not going to take her anywhere and did not give a reason.  She said the driver got out of the vehicle, walked to where the door was open and physically removed the victim from the backseat.  The victim said Shenderov pushed her as she attempted to get her backpack out of his vehicle. He grabbed the backpack and shoved her again, causing her to fall down and hit her head on the pavement. While the victim was on the ground crying, Shenderov got in his vehicle and drove away.

A store clerk at the 7/Eleven witnessed the entire incident. Officers spoke with her separately.  She told officers that she saw Shenderov, who stands 6'3" and weighs 240 pounds, grab the victim and physically take her out of the backseat and throw her to the ground. There's also video surveillance which confirms the victim's and witness' report.

Officers conducted  a traffic stop where Shenderov told, according to the report, the exact same story that the victim and the witness told. The suspect added that he had waited for the victim in the parking lot for over five minutes and was in the process of canceling the pickup  when she got into the backseat. Shenderov said that he was upset that the victim had made him wait and more upset when she appeared to be intoxicated, which is the main reason that he refused to give her a ride.
