Daytona Beach, FL - A 10-year-old boy is dead  and a 5-month-old girl is recovering after both were shot this morning (April 2) at a home on Center Street in Daytona Beach.  Daytona Beach Police say 37-year-old Terrance Young is being held on outstanding warrants with charges pending in this case.

Daytona Beach Police officers responded to the home just before 6 a.m. They found the boy shot in the torso and the baby with a gunshot wound to her wrist. The boy was pronounced dead shortly after being taken to the hospital. Police say that it appears that Young shot the children with a rifle, then left the scene.  At this time, no other information has been released.

Young fled the scene in a blue Land Rover SUV before police arrived. That vehicle was found about an hour later near the intersection of Whitehall and George streets. Officers searched for Young from that point, finding him about 30 minutes later at a residence on Division Street.

Prior to this morning, Young has warrants out of Miami-Dade County. He's being held at the Volusia County Jail while investigators gather information in order to determine charges for this morning's incident.
