Woman Threatened To Kill Deputy & Blow Up County Jail

Ormond Beach, FL - A woman who already had a warrant out for her arrest now faces additional charges after she threatened to kill a deputy and blow up the Volusia County Jail.

The report from the Volusia County Sheriff's Office says that deputies responded to a Family Dollar off of South Nova Road with reports of a disturbance back on Monday night (July 1st).

When law enforcement arrived, deputies met with the reporting party who said that three individuals, two male transients and 47-year-old Donna Jones, were causing a disturbance in the parking lot.

She stated that they were asked to leave, but refused to.

Once the reporting party called law enforcement, the three individuals walked across the street and away from the store. Regardless, she wanted the three of them trespassed.

After speaking to the reporting party, deputies met with the two males and Jones to investigate the reported disturbance.

But, as deputies investigated, they found out that Jones had an open and active warrant for her arrest in Volusia County. That warrant was in regards to a violation of codes and ordinances regarding public property.

Jones was arrested on the spot.

While one of the deputies completed her arrest paperwork, Jones became aggressive, hostile and belligerent, according to the deputy's report.

The deputy said that Jones began to head butt the plastic safety partition as she yelled obscenities and personal threats towards one of the deputies.

She also spit all over the read of his vehicle and threatened to kill the deputy and his family.

According to the report, Jones begged for a knife to cut one of the deputy's heads off and that she wanted to scalp the deputy before burning his family.

Jones continued on a tirade as she also threatened one of the deputies with the Ku Klux Klan while calling him the n-word.

She also claimed that she was arrested illegally many times and that she had "Freedom of Speech" and her current arrest was also illegal.

The deputy informed Jones that her "Freedom of Speech" did not pertain to threats and insinuation of violent acts. Despite his statements, Jones continued to threaten the deputy and that she wanted to blow up the jail with him inside.

Jones was detained in a violent prisoner transport safety belt restraint and had a spit mask placed over her face for transport to the county jail.

The report also said that she stated that she was suicidal and wanted to kill herself while demanding she be transported to the hospital.

She was booked into Volusia County Jail early Tuesday (July 2nd) morning.

Jail records show that Jones is currently in custody on a $2,100 bond with charges related to assault on a law enforcement officer, threat to discharge a destructive device and refusing to leave a public space, which was related to her warrant.
