Ormond Beach, FL - A Daytona Beach woman was hit and killed by a vehicle yesterday as she tried to guide the driver down a dirt path in Ormond Beach.

The Florida Highway Patrol says a 56-year-old Ormond Beach man was backing up in a 2000 Honda near the intersection of Avenue K and Oak Street at around 4:20 PM on Tuesday. Marie Tyndal, 58, from Daytona Beach was behind the vehicle, guiding the driver down the path.

The driver told FHP that he lost sight of Tyndal and then the back of his vehicle hit her.

The incident is still under investigation and FHP says alcohol did not play a factor.
