Daytona Beach Shores, FL - A woman and her ex-boyfriend are behind bars after Daytona Beach Shores police say they lured a man into a hotel room to rob him.
The Daytona Beach Shores Department of Public Safety says that officers were called to the Sea Scape Inn just after midnight on Sunday (October 13th) with reports of a robbery.
Volusia County Dispatch told officers that the reporting party informed 911 operators that a male and female attacked him before robbing him of money. They also stated that he was threatened with a gun, but no gun was actually shown.
When police arrived, they met with the victim who identified 21-year-old Anastasia Springman as one of the defendants, a woman he said he knew for at least three years.
According to the report, Springman asked the victim for a hotel room so she could be with her child, which he did. Around noon the victim walked down to his car. While there, Springman texted him to hurry back up to the room.
When the victim got back, the two began to watch television together. Around an hour later, Springman's ex-boyfriend, 24-year-old Nicholas Knox, came into the room and began to yell at the victim, asking what he was doing with Springman.
The narrative from the victim says that Springman began to scream and hide behind the victim as if she were scared. She supposedly yelled at Knox, saying that he was a stalker and they were not dating.
A few moments later, Knox demanded all of the victim's cash or he would shoot him. The victim said that Knox had his right hand in his waistband as if he were trying to conceal a gun.
After handing over the cash he had, Springman hopped off of the bed and told the victim to give Knox another $500. The victim said he had no more money, but Springman said he could send her the money through Facebook. When he sent her another $100, Springman punched him in the face, causing his phone to fall to the floor.
Springman was then able to read a Snapchat message that the victim sent on his phone, asking a friend to send the police to his room at the Sea Scape Inn. When she read the message, she began to punch him again. Eventually, Springman reached into her purse to grab a set of brass knuckles that she threatened the victim with.
The victim was able to run into a bathroom and lock himself inside before Springman could hurt him again. There is where he messaged his mother and brother, asking them to call 911.
While he was hiding in the bathroom, he heard sirens that ended up scaring off both Springman and Knox. When he emerged from the bathroom, he saw them leaving in a red Honda.
According to police, they had a run-in with Knox prior to the events of that night, after officers were called to the same hotel with reports of a fight. There they met with Knox, who was standing near the same red Honda he left in later that night.
After the victim met with police and identified the suspects, both Knox and Springman were apprehended off of Powers Avenue in Holly Hill by HHPD. The victim was transported to the scene and identified Knox and Springman once again.
Both Knox and Springman were charged with robbery with a weapon, battery and petty theft. Both remain in custody at Volusia County Jail.
