Daytona Beach, FL - Police are trying to figure out what led a woman to fall from a hotel balcony in beachside Daytona.
Police were dispatched to the Holiday Inn Resort off of South Atlantic Avenue just before midnight last night (April 9th) in reference to a death at the hotel.
Officers were told by a Volusia County Beach Safety officer that they watched a female fall from the balcony of a room on the sixth floor of the resort.
The female, identified as 19-year-old Alexis Carroll, was found to have no pulse and Beach Safety contacted rescue immediately.
Daytona Beach police made their way up to Carroll's room, where they met with witnesses who saw what happened.
According to their narratives, the witnesses, who were in the room near her's, heard a female and a male yelling at each other.
They then went outside and saw Carroll hanging over the railing in a squatted position, with her feet on the balcony as she held the railing. As she hung over the balcony they heard her yell "tell me I won't" as a male stood in the balcony's doorway.
One of the witnesses told Carroll "we want to have a good night," and tried to talk her off of the balcony.
Carroll then climbed over the railing and back onto the balcony.
Security from the hotel went to Carroll's room to confront her about what happened. After they left, Carroll came back out to the balcony and began to yell at the witnesses, asking who called the front desk, saying "you owe me $300!"
Then, the witness below her room said she called the front desk and the two began to argue on the balcony.
Eventually, Carroll went inside again. But, witnesses eventually heard yelling again accompanied by a glass break. Then, they heard a female scream and went outside to find Carroll lying on the ground floor.
That's when Beach Safety found Carroll and called paramedics, who pronounced her dead at the scene.
DBPD reports that they were given surveillance footage by hotel staff that shows Carroll hanging over the balcony while her boyfriend tried to pull her back inside multiple times.
