Daytona Beach, FL - A woman who was under arrest for strangling her girlfriend adds an additional charge after she tries to grab an officer's gun before stabbing the officer with the pen.

That's the report from Daytona Beach police after they arrested 25-year-old Valencia Leno following a domestic violence call Monday night (November 19th).

According to police, they were called to the home of Leno and her girlfriend with reports of a domestic disturbance shortly after 7 p.m..

The responding officer originally had trouble finding the apartment, but dispatch eventually gave them the correct location after they received another call about the disturbance, this time from the victim's 9-year-old daughter.

As the officer approached the apartment, he noticed a female matching Leno's description leaving the building. He began to follow Leno until she began to run away from the officer, towards the back of the apartment complex.

The report shows that Leno ran southbound on South Clyde Morris Boulevard until she was eventually caught at the corner of Verona Street and Clyde Morris.

The officer's narrative says that as they grabbed Leno, informing her that she was being detained, she began to resist them by  pulling away and swinging her arms.

As the officer attempted a takedown technique, she spun around them and tried to grab the handgun on the officer's belt. It was then that the officer was able to bring Leno to the ground.

The officer then drew his Taser and gave Leno more commands to stop resisting. It's then that she grabbed two pens out of the officer's front shirt pocket and tried to stab him. However, she was unable to break through the officer's bullet proof vest.

The report also shows that as the incident continued, Leno kept asking the officer to kill her.

Back at the apartment, officers finally made contact with Leno's girlfriend. According to her narrative, the disturbance began after she got back from work when she confronted Leno about not doing any work around their home.

It was during the argument that she told Leno that she would leave him for a man that would help her and that she needed to move out. That's when Leno became physically aggressive.

She stated that Leno began choking her, using her forearm. As she was being choked, she yelled for her daughter to call police.

That's when Leno threatened her, saying "you want me to kill you kid."

It wouldn't be long until Leno let her go and left the residence, only to be confronted by Daytona Beach police.

She was charged with domestic battery by strangulation and resisting arrest without violence.

She was also additionally charged with two counts of depriving an officer means of protection/communication after she knocked off an officer's body camera and damaged one of their cars as she was being detained, and one count of criminal mischief.

The report does not say what kind of damage was done to the car.

She's currently being held at Volusia County Jail on $22,000 bond.
