Earlier reporting below.

Port Orange, FL - A very short section of Taylor Road in Port Orange will be closed for the next two weeks or so because of a water main break.

The issue came up around 11:30 p.m. Sunday (December 3rd) between Sweetwater and Yorktowne boulevards, according to the City of Port Orange.

That stretch is just west of Spruce Creek High School on a road which is often used to access the campus on school days.

Port Orange spokesperson Christine Martindale says water service was never interrupted and no boil water notice was issued.

"We will keep you posted on when this section of the road will re-open," Martindale added. "We apologize for this inconvenience and we thank you for your patience."

Barriers will be in place from now until the issue is resolved on that two-lane road, which is just east of where Dunlawton Avenue meets Interstate 95.

It's not clear at this point what caused the water main break, but city officials expect the repair to take until at least December 21st.
