Daytona Beach, FL - Volusia County Sheriff Mike Chitwood is looking for a man he says abused a 3-year-old girl last year. The little girl said that Terry May beat her with a belt and burned her in an oven. Chitwood said in a Facebook post, "Unfortunately, it was her word against Terry's, and prosecutors weren't able to make the case. The charge was dropped."

Today (October 3), a warrant has been issued for May. Chitwood said there's a new case involving a 3-year-old boy who told one of our deputies: "Terry burned me." He said the little boy did have an accident and it's believed that May got boiling water from the stove and poured it on the boy. Chitwood said, " The poor kid has a burn mark across his back. " He went on to say, " to me, there is no bigger bully than the kind of coward who picks on 3-year-olds."

The first-degree felony charge is for child abuse causing great bodily harm. The warrant is based on statements and evidence collected, May willfully and maliciously inflicted physical injury to the 3-year-old victim that will cause a permanent scar.

Anyone with information on May's whereabouts is asked to contact the Volusia County Sheriff's Office, their local law enforcement or Crime Stoppers.
