Wannabe Armed Robber Foiled By Security Guard In Ormond Beach In Custody

Ormond Beach, FL -  6/27/17 Update: The man who tried to rob the Tropic Sun Towers in Ormond Beach at gunpoint on June 5th has been arrested. Officers from the Ormond Beach Police Department arrested Darcy Hugh Rose, 48, on Monday, June 26. Investigators found fingerprints on the handgun that was left at the scene. They yielded a positive for Rose. Earlier Reporting: Police in Ormond are investigating an attempted armed robbery that was stopped by the security guard at the Tropic Sun Towers on Monday. According to the Ormond Beach Police Department, it was around 5:07 AM on June 5th when an unknown white man, who had his face covered with a piece of cloth or bandana, walked into the lobby of the Tropic Sun Towers wearing a black hooded sweatshirt. He pointed a handgun at the security guard and yelled, "give it up, give it up!" The security guard knocked the gun out of the suspect's hands and threw him to the ground. The guard then took the suspect and threw him out of the lobby. At this point, the suspect yelled "call the police, call the police," and then left the area. The suspect has been described as an 18 to 25-year-old white man, 5'6" tall, 160 pounds, with a brown crew cut hair style and no facial hear. He was last seen wearing blue jeans, a black hoodie, a blue bandana or cloth, and dark tennis shoes with white soles.
