Orange City, FL - Volusia County Sheriff's deputies say that an 18-year-old known gang associate already arrested 11 times since he was 11-year-old is back behind bars. Vincent Shalkowitz is charged with several new felonies after a VCSO detective checking his Instagram posts and text message records recognized one featuring Shalkowitz driving a stolen SUV and holding a handgun. The passenger with him, 18-year-old Jeremy Jones, was also armed with a handgun that matched one reported stolen in DeLand in April. Jones is in jail on a variety of charges.

Shalkowitz was arrested May 30 on a charge of possession of a firearm by an adjudicated delinquent. Detectives executed a search warrant at his Orange City apartment where they found his cell phone and got an additional warrant to get data from it. They found several videos of Shalkowitz and Jones handling guns.

Detectives also found conversations between Shalkowitz and Jones discussing a stolen vehicle, a burglary spree and a detailed plan to commit an armed home invasion robbery of a man and his girlfriend. That evidence led to more charges for both Shalkowitz and Jones of conspiracy to commit a home invasion robbery with a firearm, conspiracy to commit kidnapping, as well as another charge of possession of a weapon by an adjudicated delinquent and grand theft firearm.

If that's not enough, Shalkowitz has another charge of grand theft auto for the theft of a Nissan Xterra shown in his Instagram video. He does have 11 arrests since the age of 11 includes 21 felonies, including one robbery charge. Shalkowitz was on probation from 2013 to 2019 but never sent to a juvenile commitment program. He was booked on his latest charges today (July 18) with bond set at $35,000.

Jones has been in the Volusia County Jail since June 7, 2019, on the charges listed above. He is being held on no bond.
