Volusia County, FL - Update: The Volusia County Council Meeting saw council members agree on the proposed paratransit Votran buses for the County.

It was unanimously decided to approve the $1.4 million needed to purchase 14 new Votran buses for the county.

Earlier Reporting:

Volusia County residents with disabilities may soon have easier access to transportation.

Votran is looking to purchase fourteen new 23-foot paratransit vehicles for those with disabilities. They would replace those vehicles which are no longer efficient for the county to operate.

The county will purchase these vehicles from Alliance Bus Group in Orlando, and the purchase will cost a total of $1,449,778, which would be 100% funded by Federal Transit Administration grant funds.

The useful life for these vehicles is approximately seven years or 200,000 miles, whichever comes first.

The decision will be made during Thursday's  Volusia County Council's meeting.
