Volusia County, FL- After months of negotiations, the Volusia County School Board, the Volusia Teachers Organization and the Volusia Educational Support Association reached a settlement for a two-year deal providing raises and health insurance benefits. The contract with teachers comes after months of testy negotiations which included an impasse declared when the two sides could not agree.

VCS will save over $18 million in health care costs over the life of this new contract. The deal does contain compromises on pay and insurance.

The settlements are subject to ratification by the school board and employees and resolve all pending disputes. The Board meets with representatives of the American Federation of State, County, and Municipal Employees (AFSCME) tomorrow.
