Volusia County Hurricane Irma Victims Urged To Apply For Disaster SNAP

Volusia County, FL – Volusia County is working with the Department of Children and Families (DCF) to help Hurricane Irma victims receive Disaster SNAP (D-SNAP) through Food for Florida. From 7 AM to 6 PM on Wednesday, October 4 through Sunday, October 8, Hurricane Irma victims struggling with food are encouraged to go to the Volusia County Fairgrounds located at 3150 East New York Ave., DeLand to determine D-SNAP eligibility. To be eligible for D-SNAP, you must:
  • Have lived or worked in one of the 48 counties declared eligible for D-SNAP on September 5
  • Sustained disaster-related damage or loss such as reduction or loss of income, loss of food, damage to home or to self-employment workspace or suffered other disaster-related expenses
  • Have an ID, asset and income information for everyone in the household
  • Not be currently receiving SNAP benefits
