Volusia County Fire Rescue Has Issued A Burn Ban

Volusia County, FL – Volusia County Fire Rescue has issued a burn ban that includes the county’s unincorporated areas due to the ongoing dry conditions.

The ban took effect at 12:01 AM on Friday, April 28, and it applies to Oak Hill, Lake Helen, and Pierson.

The burn ban means all outdoor burning is prohibited unless authorized by the Florida Forest Service. The ban applies to burning yard trash or household paper products, bonfires, campfires, warming fires, and cooking fires. The only exception for outdoor cooking is contained gas or charcoal grills (excluding fire pits).

Anyone who violates the ban could face a fine of up to $500 and jail time (up to 60 days).
