Daytona Beach, FL – The Volusia County Council and the Daytona Beach Shores City Council will soon hold a joint meeting in Daytona Beach to discuss issues regarding beach access and beach parking.

At 2 PM on Tuesday, March 6, the joint public meeting will convene in the media room of the Emergency Operations Center located at 3825 Tiger Bay Road in Daytona Beach. The public is invited to attend.

The meeting was called in accordance with Florida Statute Section 164.1055 of the Florida Governmental Conflict Resolution Act. Councilmembers will discuss and consider the following issues facing both the County and the City of Daytona Beach Shores:

  • The County’s authority over a piece of land next to the beach, situated within city limits, that the County has acquired for beach access.
  • If the county will agree to only purchase land designated for parking on the west side of A1A in the future.
  • How payment will be made to the city to recuperate the loss of ad valorem tax revenues as a result of the county acquiring the properties.
  • How the City’s recent parking ordinance will affect the county’s future parking projects on the west side of A1A.
  • If the county will agree to have no beach parking only where there are off-beach parking lots.
  • If the County Council will agree with county plans for off-beach parking, which include some recreational amenities.
