Volusia County 3rd Grade FSA Scores Available, More Passing Than State Average

Volusia County, FL – Scores for Volusia County School’s 3rd grade FSA English language arts test are now available. The FSA test has been administered for 3 years now and is based upon state standards set in 2014. Scores range from 1 to 5, 1 being the lowest score and 5 being the highest, with a score of 3 being ‘passing.’ The number of Volusia County students who passed the test this year increased 3 points from last year’s results and is above the state average. 59% of students in Volusia County passed with a score of 3 or higher, beating the state average of 58%.  17% of students in Volusia County earned a score of 1 below the state average of 19%. “These scores are another example that Volusia County Schools continues to move in right direction,” says Tom Russell, Superintendent of Volusia County Schools. “We are very proud of our students and their performance on this test.  Our teachers and administrators should also be commended for their dedication to student achievement which is a key area of focus for Volusia County Schools.” Volusia County Schools have also released data on schools’ performances in hopes to be able to make improvements before next year’s test.
