DeLeon Springs, FL - An 18-year-old car thief is being held on a $230,000 bond for his connection in multiple car burglaries.

Earlier today (June 7th), the Volusia County Sheriff's Office arrested 18-year-old Jeremy Jones on charges related to grand theft of vehicles and firearms as well as armed burglary.

VCSO says that the recent discovery of a stolen 2015 Nissan Quest is what led detectives to a "treasure trove" of stolen property belonging to multiple victims around western Volusia.

According to investigators, the spree began on May 17th when the locked Nissan van was reported stolen from a home in DeLeon Springs.

The owner suspected the suspect used a spare key stolen during a car break that happened a month prior on the same vehicle.

A week later, the van was found abandoned in a wooden area in DeLeon Springs.

Responding deputies discovered multiple ID cards, purses, checkbooks and a gun holster all belonging to people other than the van owner, indicating evidence of additional crimes.

The investigation found multiple vehicle break-ins throughout west Volusia in DeLand, Seville, Pierson and DeLeon Springs.

Detectives conducted interviews and processed evidence throughout the investigation.

Thanks to statements that were made and evidence collected, investigators found that Jones committed the break-ins and thefts during the last two months.

Jones now remains in Volusia County Jail on $230,000 bail.
