New Smyrna Beach, FL - A man wanted by the New Smyrna Beach Police Department is apprehended by Volusia Sheriff's deputies after trying to run over his girlfriend.

On Tuesday evening, 31-year-old Adam Pilling struck his girlfriend several times as she was trying to leave him. According to the VCSO, Pilling stole her car and chased her through parking lots in an attempt to hit her.

The victim, who said her relationship with Pilling was abusive, ran through bushes and took refuge inside a business to escape him. Once she was inside, Pilling fled the area and fled from a responding NSBPD officer.

Pilling crashed the car through a fence, ran away and hid on a nearby boat. The VCSO's Air One helicopter spotted Pilling and directed units to his location. Air One video from last night can be seen here.

Pilling was originally wanted by the NSBPD for aggravated assault with a deadly weapon, fleeing and attempting to elude law enforcement, grand theft auto and domestic battery. He was found with several counterfeit $50 and $20 bills in his possession and more fake cash was located in a safe in his car.

Tuesday night's events landed Pilling additional charges of possession of 10 or more counterfeit notes, driving with a suspended license and leaving the scene of a crash with property damage. He also had open warrants for theft, uttering forged bills and violation of probation for possessing drug paraphernalia.

Pilling remains at the Volusia County Branch Jail without bond.
