VCSO: Armed Man Attacks Ex In Her DeLand Home & Fires Gun, Returns & Hides In Attic

DeLand, FL - Update:  The man who allegedly broke into his ex-girlfriend's home in DeLand while armed, fired a round inside the home, and then punched her in the face, is now is custody after returning to the home and hiding in the attic.

VCSO announced Jonathan Craig Rollason-Elliot's arrest Thursday morning. He was arrested around 9:35 AM after deputies say he returned to his ex-girlfriend's home in DeLand. Officials found the victim's home had been spray-painted with derogatory comments. The door was ajar, and Rollason-Elliott was found hiding in the attic, according to VCSO.

Deputies recovered a .25-caliber handgun, a baggie of suspected methamphetamine, and a smoking device from the suspect’s attic hiding spot. Rollason-Elliott faces new charges of armed burglary, possession of methamphetamine, criminal mischief, and two counts of possession of drug paraphernalia. Those are in addition to his pre-existing charges of armed burglary, aggravated assault with a firearm, and domestic battery. Rollason-Elliott was transported without incident to the Volusia County Branch Jail.

Volusia County deputies are looking for the man who allegedly broke into his ex-girlfriend's home in DeLand while armed, fired a round inside the home, and then punched her in the face.

Jonathan Craig Rollason-Elliot, otherwise known as "Long Jon," is wanted on charges of armed burglary, aggravated assault with a firearm, and domestic battery.

Dispatchers got the call about the break-in on Pecan St. in DeLand early Thursday morning, just after midnight. The 25-year-old victim told deputies that Rollason-Elliot showed up unexpectedly and kicked in the front door before starting an argument with her. She said that he pointed a handgun at her while he questioned her and screamed at her. She said he fired one round into the ceiling, punched her in the face, and then left the house.

Authorities say that Rollason-Elliot was last seen wearing a black T-shirt and orange camouflage shorts. He's described as a white man with brown hair, brown eyes, he's about 6'1" tall, and weighs around 15 pounds. His last known address was on Bear St. in Paisley.

Detectives are following up on leads to find him, but they're asking for help from the community. Anyone with information should call 911 or call Crime Stoppers of Northeast FL, 888-277-TIPS, where you may be eligible for a cash reward.
