VCSO Identifies Persons Of Interest In DeLand Shooting Death Of 26-Year-Old Man

DeLand, FL - 12/1/17 Update: The victim in Wednesday night's fatal shooting in DeLand has been identified as 26-year-old Bryant Ball. According to the Volusia County Sheriff's Office, Ball is a transient.

Officials say this is still an active criminal investigation and more information will be released when it becomes available. 11/30/17 Update: The Volusia County Sheriff’s Office (VCSO) has identified two persons of interest involved in the Wednesday night shooting death of a 26-year-old man in DeLand. The fatal shooting occurred on South Florida Ave. at around 8:30 PM on Wednesday. The Sheriff’s Office says one man is currently being interviewed about the shooting. On Thursday, a search warrant was executed at the 900 block of South Florida Ave. That search resulted in the arrest of the second man on charges unrelated to the shooting. The identity of the 26-year old victim will not be released until family is notified. The man was airlifted to an area hospital where he was pronounced dead. The names of the persons of interest have not yet been released because the case is still active. Earlier Reporting: The Volusia County Sheriff's Office is investigating the shooting death of a 26-year-old man who was found in DeLand on Wednesday night. The black man was found collapsed near 914 S. Florida Ave. at around 8:35 PM on November 29. Witnesses told deputies that they heard several gunshots but they didn't know where they came from. Witnesses also said the victim and another man were heard arguing on S. Florida Ave. earlier that night. The victim was airlifted to a trauma hospital but was diverted to Florida Hospital DeLand where he was later pronounced dead.
