UPDATE (10-19-19): The Volusia County Sheriff's Office says 37-year-old Angela Compton is charged with second-degree murder in the stabbing death of her 50-year-old boyfriend, Neal Goodrich, Jr. Video surveillance footage shows the pair arriving at Goodrich Seafood Restaurant in Oak Hill yesterday morning (October 18). They approach a boat at the water’s edge near the restaurant, and engage in a physical altercation. After several seconds, Compton appears to stab Goodrich multiple times.

Through interviews with Compton and a juvenile witness who was at the scene, detectives determined the weapon was a letter opener that Compton later threw into the water.

Goodrich had multiple stab wounds to his upper torso. After the altercation, he got into a vehicle with another person. He was transported to Advent Health Hospital in New Smyrna Beach, where he was pronounced dead.

Compton is at the Volusia County Jail being held on no bond.
