VCSO Investigates Shooting Death Of 14-Year-Old Oak Hill Boy

Oak Hill, FL - The Volusia County Sheriff's Office is investigating a shooting in Oak Hill that took the life of a 14-year-old boy on Saturday night.

Deputies were called to 287 Wood Ave. at around 7:30 PM on February 10 about a juvenile with a gunshot wound to the neck. The victim, Ernesto Sierra-Plummer, was rushed to Florida Hospital New Smyrna where he was pronounced dead at 8:44 PM.

Some of Sierra-Plummer's relatives were in the home at the time of the shooting but they told deputies they didn't see it happen. Two of his cousins said they heard the gunshot and found Sierra-Plummer with a gunshot wound in his neck. One cousin said that Sierra-Plummer had a gun in his hand and the other cousin reported that the 14-year-old said he had shot himself.

An autopsy has been scheduled for Monday and the shooting remains under investigation.
