Volusia County, FL-The on-again-off-again issue of body worn cameras is on-again for Volusia County deputies due to revisions in policy based on suggestions made by the deputies union.

Sheriff's spokesman Gary Davidson said in an email, "Beginning Thursday, District 5 deputies will resume wearing their assigned body cameras." Davidson said the goal is to have all of the cameras deployed in the field by August.

Davidson said that they fielded in the range of 50-60 suggestions and requests from the union related to the wording of the policy, with nearly all of them incorporated into the updated version.

According to Davidson, the policy is a working document and subject to future changes, due to deputy feedback and on-going evaluation.

The Daytona Beach Police Department was the first local agency to equip its officers with the cameras, which occurred in 2012. Other agency's using cameras include the Flagler County Sheriff's Office, Daytona Beach Shores and Orange City.
