Deltona Motorcyclist Killed In Crash; VCSO Says Both Motorists Had Green Lights

DeBary, FL - Officials with the Volusia County Sheriff's Office say it appears that both motorists involved in a fatal wreck in DeBary that left a motorcyclist dead had a green light.

Carl Lee Pierce, 28, of Deltona was heading west on Dirksen Dr. on a 2001 Harley-Davidson motorcycle when he collided with an eastbound pickup truck at the I-4 on-ramp at around 6:30 AM. The driver of the 2016 Ford F-150, 32-year-old Dustin Lee Lindsey of Lake Mary, had turned into Pierce's path as the truck entered the I-4 on-ramp. According to VCSO, it appears that both drivers had a green light at the time of the crash.

Officials say it looks like Pierce wasn't wearing a helmet, there are no signs of any driver impairment, and speed didn't play a factor. The crash is still under investigation.

Dirksen Dr. was closed down following the wreck with a traffic detour onto I-4.
