VCC Could Approve Move For Supervisor Of Elections Office

DeLand, FL - In tomorrow's (May 7) Volusia County Council meeting, a budget resolution will be talked about and likely approved. Item 3 in the Other Business category is the leasing of DeLand office space for the Supervisor of Elections office.

Chair Ed Kelley said the move has been in the works for some time because Elections Supervisor Lisa Lewis said the current facility lacks in security, office employees are working in cramped conditions and the lack of parking in downtown DeLand makes it difficult for those that want to register to vote.

Elections Supervisor Lisa Lewis loves the building and being in downtown DeLand but says changes are needed.

The budget resolution is for a total of $1,221,089. Property improvements will use up the bulk of the money, at $981,605. The annual rent in an office complex a couple of miles south of downtown DeLand on Woodland Boulevard is $239,484.
