Two Volusia Men Arrested In Undercover Online Sex Sting

Posted

St. Johns County, FL - A Daytona Beach man and a Palm Coast man are busted, along with seven other men, during an undercover child sex sting operation led by the St. Johns County Sheriff's Office. The four-day operation, dubbed “Operation Rip Current,” used undercover detectives posing as children online. SJCSO says that the undercover investigators were exposed to "graphic and disturbing subject matter during contact with potential child predators" and that some of the suspects "aggressively requested to meet in person for the purpose of sexually abusing the child personas." Matthew Tatge, age 22, of Palm Coast, and Richard Paul Roberts, age 46, of Daytona Beach, were both arrested during the sting. Tatge was arrested on June 3 and released yesterday. Roberts was also arrested on June 3. SJCSO says it was assisted by several other agencies during the sting, including the F.B.I., Homeland Security Investigations (HSI), the U.S. Attorney’s Office, F.D.L.E. and the Office of the State Attorney's 7th Judicial Circuit. This was the fifth SJSO undercover operation of its kind in seven years. You can find mugshots and information of all the men arrested in the sting below:
