Palm Coast, FL - Two men, 20-year-old Jordon Dunn and 20-year-old Jawan Davis, both face felony charges after waving a stolen handgun at a McDonald's drive-thru employee.
Flagler County Sheriff's deputies responded to a call just before 4 a.m. at the McDonald's on Belle Terre Parkway in reference to a disturbance involving a weapon. The employee contacted dispatch about two customers who displayed the firearm in a threatening manner after complaining that their food was cold. They demanded the order be remade and told the employee that they "do not play" when it comes to their food.
The employee remained calm and told them he would remake their order. He went to the back of the restaurant and called 9-1-1. Deputies arrived quickly and conducted a felony traffic stop on the vehicle, which was still parked in front of the drive-thru window.
The deputies located a Springfield handgun, a small bag of marijuana, and a silver and black BB gun in plain view in the car. Further investigation found that the handgun had been reported stolen out of St. Johns County.
Davis told deputies that he and Dunn were only joking when they showed the firearm and that they were unhappy with the food being cold. The deputies did not laugh, arrested the pair of them and took them to jail.
“This is a story that could have had a very different outcome,” Sheriff Rick Staly said. “This employee kept his cool and did the right thing by calling us. Thanks to his actions and the quick response from our deputies, no one was injured. These guys were driving around looking for trouble and they got it. Now they can enjoy the food served at the Green Roof Inn.”
Davis is charged with Aggravated Assault with a Deadly Weapon, Grand Theft of a Firearm, and Driving Without a License. Dunn is charged with Aggravated Assault with a Deadly Weapon and Possession of Marijuana. They are both being held without bond.
