Two Dead In Wrong-Way Crash After Evading Deputies

Osteen, FL - Two people are dead in a wrong-way crash after the driver runs from the Volusia County Sheriff's Office.

The report from Florida Highway Patrol says that 21-year-old Freddie Pleas was driving with his other male passenger north on State Road 415 while another vehicle, driven by 31-year-old James Marshall, was headed south, just before 11:15 last night (June 19th).

While driving north, a VCSO deputy attempted to stop Pleas for a traffic violation near Collins Avenue, but Pleas ended up taking off.

After fleeing, Pleas began driving northbound in the southbound lanes of SR 415. It wasn't long until Pleas hit Marshall head-on.

FHP says that Pleas was killed along with his passenger, who has not been identified yet.

Marshall survived the crash but his condition is listed as serious according to FHP. He's currently being treated at Central Florida Regional Hospital in Sanford.

The crash remains under investigation.
