Volusia County, FL-Update: FHP identifies the two people killed in a head-on collision on ISB as 51-year-old Scott Ellis and 43-year-old Sherry Ellis of DeLand. Charges are pending against the driver of the vehicle that crossed the center line.

Earlier reporting: Troopers confirm that two people died today in a head-on collision on International Speedway Boulevard at Brick Road. That's in the area of Tiger Bay State Forest. The crash happened just after 4:30 PM. Two people were transported to hospitals from the scene.

FHP PIO Sgt. Kim Montes says three vehicles were involved and says a vehicle going eastbound on ISB crossed into the oncoming lane and hit a westbound vehicle. The eastbound vehicle was driven by 20-year-old Samuel James of Orange City. He survived the crash. James is hospitalized with serious injuries at Halifax Hospital. Troopers don't know why he lost control of the 2002 Hyundai Sonata and say charges are pending against James.

The driver of the westbound vehicle survived. Two passengers died. Troopers say neither of the passengers were wearing seat belts. The driver, however, was. 26-year-old Luis Ojeda Pecunia was driving the 2015 Toyota Corolla. He is hospitalized with serious injuries at Halifax Hospital. The two passengers are only identified as a 51-year-old male and a 43-year-old female pending notification of next of kin.

Montes says a third vehicle hit debris after the initial crash. That vehicle was driven by 22-year-old Nicolas Dantes of DeLand. He was not hurt.
