Bunnell, FL - A DeFord's Fuel & Oil truck rolled near the intersection of SR-100 and US-1 in Bunnell early Monday morning and spilled about half of its 1800-gallon diesel fuel tank, shutting down north and southbound lanes of US-1.

Flagler County officials say the Department of Environmental Protection and the Environmental Protection Agency have been notified and the St. Johns County Fire Rescue Hazmat team was deployed to the scene to help contain the spill. Motorists were asked to avoid the area.

“The Department of Transportation has been notified,” Flagler County Fire Rescue Chief Don Petito said at the scene. “This did impact the roadway which will probably require asphalt work. We anticipate the US Route 1/SR-100 intersection to remain closed for some time.”
