Port Orange, FL - A semi truck driver was killed late Monday night when the vehicle crashed into several trees in the median and flipped on I-95 in Port Orange.

According to FHP, 63-year-old Herbert Byrd of Melfa, VA, was heading south on I-95 in a semi truck that was hauling frozen seafood at around 10 PM on Monday when, for an unknown reason, he drifted into the center median and hit several trees near mile marker 258, just south of the I-4 interchange. The cab separated from the trailer and flipped, spilling about 300 gallons of fuel.

Byrd was rushed to Halifax Health where he was later pronounced dead. FHP says the accident, which remains under investigation, was not alcohol-related and Byrd was wearing a seatbelt.
