Truck Detour To Start On US-92

Daytona Beach, FL - Truck drivers on US-92 can expect a detour while other drivers can expect delays coming as soon as next week.

According to the Florida Department of Transportation, that detour can happen as early as Monday night (February 18th), shutting down the road between US-1/Ridgewood Avenue and Nova Road.

Trucks near that part of US-92 will be directed towards Mason Avenue instead.

The detour is needed as traffic is shifted and lanes are narrowed for work between Charles Avenue and Helme Place. It's expected to be in place for several weeks as workers with FDOT install new drainage pipe and structures on south US-92.

To accommodate this construction, the contractor will shift traffic to the north side of US-92, providing two 10-foot travel lanes in each direction through the construction zone.

All construction will occur behind a barrier wall, which will block access to US-92 from Marion Street.

Single lane closures are also scheduled on US-92 from 8 p.m. to 6 a.m. next Monday (February 18th) through Wednesday (February 20th) to shift traffic and install the barrier wall.

According to FDOT, due to the narrower passage, drivers need to exercise care and stay alert.
