Daytona Beach, FL-Police have a suspect in custody in a stabbing last night near the Ocean Walk Shoppes in Daytona Beach. The victim, 35-year-old Steven Worthington, told police he and family members were walking near Bubba Gump's just after 5 PM when a man following behind the group looked at the victim's underage daughter and said "Nice ass". Worthington, who told police he and his family are tourists, asked him "What did you say?" and the suspect replied "You heard me" and an expletive. The suspect then pushed Worthington into a kiosk and pulled out a large knife. The men struggled and both were cut. Police determined the suspect had fallen on the knife. When police arrived officers saw both the victim and the suspect bleeding on North Atlantic Avenue. The suspect had tossed the knife into the street. Worthington told officers he didn't know the suspect who is identified as 33-year-old John Debow of New Smyrna Beach. Debow was taken by EVAC to Halifax Hospital and underwent surgery. He told police at the hospital that he couldn't remember much, only that he had stabbed another male. Worthington had a cut to his arm. Debow is charged with a felony count of aggravated battery. He was booked into the County Branch Jail on $2000 bond.
