Volusia County, FL-With more people on the roads for Memorial Day travel then there have been since 2005, AAA has a number of tips to make your trip less stressful. Spokesperson Mark Jenkins said in Florida, there should be about two million people on the road, up about 5% over last year.

Gas prices are lower than they have been in years, down more than 40 cents from last year. The price for a gallon of regular gasoline in Volusia County ranges from $2.10 to $2.30. Jenkins expects the low prices to get more people on the road.

There are some ways to make the travel less stressful and Jenkins has a number of tips for those hitting the roads.  Minimize distractions while driving.  Pack your patience and try to have an alternate travel plan.  That way, if there is a problem on the road you planned to use, you'll already know how to find another way to get where you are going.

Jenkins said that TSA has an app that can really help air travelers get an idea how long lines are at security checkpoints. Find out more about it by clicking here.

Some 350-thousand motorists will be rescued across the country by AAA this weekend. Jenkins said there are a variety of reasons, such as lockouts, dead batteries, and flat tires. A way to prevent many of the issues is to take your vehicle to a mechanic and have it checked out before you leave home.
