Daytona Beach, FL – Several individuals have been arrested and one escaped during a vehicle pursuit following the burglary of a Daytona Beach CarMax dealership.

Just before 5 AM on Monday, police responded to a burglary in progress at the CarMax located at 800 N. Tomoka Farms Rd. One officer was notified that a newer model black BMW fled the scene after attempting to strike an officer at the scene of the burglary. The officer tried to stop the BMW in his marked patrol car with lights and sirens but was unsuccessful.

The BMW led the officer in a pursuit from southbound Tomoka Farms Rd. to westbound International Speedway Blvd. towards westbound I-4. The officer lost sight of the stolen BMW near mile-maker 123 on I-4 as the suspect entered Seminole County.

Back at the scene, officers were advised that there were several individuals in the lot trying to steal cars. Several cars had been lined up to exit, but some of the individuals were exiting the cars and fleeing the lot. The suspects got into a dark blue BMW and began to drive at a high rate of speed to try to exit the lot. Officers were forced to jump out of the way as the BMW unsuccessfully rammed the steel gate, causing $15,000 worth of damage in the process.
