New Smyrna Beach, FL – VCSO and NSBPD say they’ve got their man. The suspect believed to be responsible for 30 to 40 burglaries in the New Smyrna Beach area has been arrested.

The two departments teamed up for this investigation and arrested 39-year-old Jason Lancaster, who’s a convicted felon. Lancaster was arrested on Tuesday night at a home on Old Mission Rd where he’d been staying. Lots of stolen property was found during the arrest, but no sign of a gun he’s suspected of stealing.

Lancaster was caught on surveillance video by at least 2 of his victims, and during questioning on Tuesday he admitted to breaking into several vehicles in the New Smyrna Beach area.

VCSO initially charged him with armed burglary, petty theft, grand theft of a firearm, and possession of a firearm by a convicted felon. NSBPD have also charged him in one burglary, and both agencies are expecting to file several other charges as their investigation continues.
