Daytona Beach, FL - Kevin Captain, Trauma Program Manager at Halifax Health in Daytona Beach, says, so far, the hospital has seen more than 20 biker trauma cases this Bike Week. That was as of Thursday morning and includes only the cases Halifax had seen.

Captain, in an interview with Daytona's Morning News, pressed the need for bikers to wear DOT approved helmets and said, in his experience, that was key to surviving a motorcycle accident or dying in a bike-involved wreck.

AAA recently citied Florida as the most dangerous spot in the nation for motorcycle riders. Captain thinks that might be skewed because of the big biker events including Bike Week and Biketoberfest here and the unusually high number of motorcycle riders in the state where the weather is almost always good for bikers to ride.
