Stray Bullet Shatters Window Of DeLand Church During Church Function

DeLand, FL - A church function in DeLand during the early hours of New Year's Day was interrupted when a stray bullet hit the church's window. The bullet hit the side of the Antioch Freewill Baptist Church church at 301 W. Beresford Ave. at around 1 AM on Monday. DeLand Police say that people were shooting handguns and long rifles into the air in order to celebrate the new year and that it was most likely a bullet from this celebratory gunfire that shattered the church window. No one at the church function was injured by the bullet, according to police, and the bullet was found and collected for evidence. Copyright Southern Stone Communications 2018.
