Ormond Beach, FL - FHP's investigating Sunday's accident on I-95 that left a 24-year-old man from St. Augustine dead.

Ryan Hammond was heading north in the center lane of I-95 in a 1997 Chevy Pickup on Sunday afternoon when witnesses say he tried to change lanes. He saw there was traffic in the other lane and went back into the center lane, but he didn't slow down and hit the back of a 2014 Chevy Malibu that was driving in front of him.

Hammond's car then went off road and overturned. He was pronounced dead at the scene.

43-year-old Latrece Collier and her 13-year-old daughter, both from Jacksonville, were in the Malibu. They only suffered minor injuries and were treated at Halifax Medical Center.

"We're investigating the crash right now to look at speeds and to see if anything else played a factor," said Kim Montes, FHP Public Affairs Officer. "But we think it may have just been somebody that, as they changed lanes, didn't realize cars were there and just didn't have enough room to change back safely."
