Port Orange, FL - A Spruce Creek High School student can now complete her studies on a brand new laptop computer, thanks to an Excellence in Education program. Ryan Welch, a Spruce Creek High School junior in Port Orange, was presented with the new computer on Wednesday, courtesy of Daytona Dodge Chrysler Jeep RAM, Spectrum, and Jeep Beach Inc. Daytona Dodge's owner, Randy Dye, founded the Excellence in Education program, which provides incentives in order to reward high school juniors and seniors in Volusia and Flagler Counties who excel in their studies. Welch's mentor, Karie Cappiello, earned dinner for four at Malcolm's at LPGA International for helping Welch with her studies. According to the Daytona Dodge dealership, students who turn in their reports cards to the dealership can earn entries for prizes based on their good grades and attendance records. At the end of each grading period, a winning name is drawn, and the winner is awarded a new laptop. At the end of the school year, entries are drawn from each school from all entries submitted throughout the year. Those selected students will attend an end-of-year reception at LPGA International, where one student will win a brand new Jeep Compass. That reception will take place on June 7 this year. Since the program began in 2009, ten students have received the grand prize of a new car. “We are delighted to be able to reward these fine students who represent the future of our community. We are also confident that their example will incentivize others to achieve,” explains Dye.
