Split Pipe Near DeLand Middle Leads To Boil Order

Posted

DeLand, FL - A boil water order is in effect for parts of DeLand thanks to a split pipe.

City officials tell us the rupture happened near DeLand Middle School early yesterday afternoon (April 4th), briefly interrupting water service to the school itself and neighborhoods nearby.

Crews have already fixed the split main and water is flowing again to those areas.

The affected neighborhoods include Hawthorn Hills, properties on New Hampshire Avenue between Amelia and Garfield Avenues and properties on Garfield from New Hampshire to Beresford Avenue.

The boil water will likely stay in effect into the weekend but should clear up by Monday.

The rupture had nothing to do with an arrest at DeLand Middle earlier in the day which caused a brief campus lockdown, per DeLand spokesperson Chris Graham.
