Earlier reporting below.

Deltona, FL - Volusia County Sheriff's Office says it began with a shoplifting incident at Publix.

Now 27-year-old David Readdean is facing multiple other charges following an additional string of crimes.

According to VCSO, Readdean struggled with and fled from a deputy who was responding to a flag-down after a shoplifting incident in Deltona.

After fleeing, Readdean was involved in a traffic accident, which he fled from after carjacking another vehicle.

The accident caused Spirit Elementary to be placed under lockdown while deputies searched the area.

Now, deputies have tracked Readdean to a home in Deltona, where he's currently engaged in a standoff against deputies and VCSO SWAT.

VCSO says he's facing charges of carjacking, kidnapping, battery on a law enforcement officer, resisting arrest with violence, escape and possession of heroin.
