Sex Predator Exposes Himself To Woman At Ormond Motel Pool

Ormond Beach, FL - A 58-year-old registered sexual predator tells the Ormond Beach Police Department he exposed his genitals to a woman because he wanted to feel "an adrenaline rush".

Michael S. Knight - listed as a homeless Daytona Beach man in his arrest report - was booked at Volusia County Jail on Wednesday for that incident at the Makai Motel on 707 South Atlantic Avenue, 11 days after it happened. He was originally given a notice to appear but was arrested after OBPD obtained a warrant.

According to that report, OBPD were called to the motel by Volusia County Beach Safety personnel around 1 p.m. on June 16th, soon after they had detained Knight during a suspicious person call.

The woman - whose name and age were removed from the arrest report given to WNDB - told OBPD it happened while she was using the motel's pool with her two daughters nearby, ages 4 and 8. She claims Knight showed up to the pool area, took off his shoes and sat down for about two minutes before leaving the pool area and walking up a stairwell to the motel's fourth floor.

At that point, according to the woman, Knight placed his blue backpack on the floor of the hallway he was in and dropped his pants, first exposing his buttocks to the woman before turning around and leaning against a nearby wall to expose his genitals. It was after she said "no" that he then started swaying side to side, per the report.

The woman then called her husband for help as a witness - a 38-year-old man - confronted Knight about what he did. That witness told OBPD Knight apologized and gave various excuses for his behavior, including that he had been drinking, using heroin and "Special K" and that his mother was dying. Knight also promised the witness he'd never do it again if the witness let him go, per the report.

When interviewed by OBPD afterward, Knight admitted that he'd been doing this kind of behavior since he was 12, calling it "stress relief" and comparing it to the high one might get from using cocaine. Knight also told detectives that he waited until the woman's children could not see him before exposing himself and that he chose her because "she was alone".

According to the arrest report, Knight has had many arrests for indecent exposure since 1979 and was labeled a predator after a conviction in a similar Lake County case involving a victim under 16 years of age in 1996. He was also convicted of doing the same thing in Volusia County in 2002 and served prison time for that incident as well as the one in Lake.
