UPDATE (03-07-16): The victim is identified as 45-year-old Branislav Sunjka of Altamonte Springs.

Earlier reporting below.

Deltona, FL - A man is dead after troopers say his sport utility vehicle went head-on into an overpass along Interstate 4 in Deltona.

The Florida Highway Patrol says it happened around 9:30 AM Wednesday (March 2nd) at Mile Marker 109 near Enterprise Road.

FHP Sergeant Kim Montes says the victim - who has yet to be identified - was driving eastbound on I-4 when the green Chevrolet left the roadway for some reason and got onto the shoulder.

"The front of [the vehicle] struck the bridge at Enterprise Road, then caught fire and became fully engulfed," Montes added.

The driver died at the scene. No other vehicles are believed to be involved, according to the accident report.

Traffic in both directions of I-4 saw heavy delays for hours following the accident as investigators processed the scene. Eastbound traffic was diverted at one point off the DeBary Avenue exit in Deltona, but a lane has since reopened. Westbound lanes were also closed for a time because of the accident but they have since reopened.

An autopsy is scheduled to determine if alcohol or drugs were a factor as well as to positively identify the remains.

It's unclear at this time if the driver was wearing a seat belt, per the FHP report.
