Daytona Beach, FL - A 17-year-old Seabreeze High School student was arrested Thursday after Daytona Beach police say he was carrying a knife and drugs on campus.

At around 9:28 AM on Thursday, the Dean of Discipline at Seabreeze High School in Daytona Beach told the school resource officer that a 17-year-old student appeared to be under the influence of drugs. The student was not able to be located in any of his classes the previous afternoon, according to police reports from Daytona Beach Police Department (DBPD). Once the 17-year-old was located, he was brought to the Dean's office and the student was suspected of possessing methamphetamine on campus. The student was asked if he was carrying anything he shouldn't be, and he said "yes." The student pulled a large, 11.5-inch claw knife out of his backpack. A clear bag of off-white powder was also found in a wallet that was in the boy's backpack, according to arrest reports. The student said the powdery substance was "meth," but when the powder was tested, it came back as testing positive for heroin. The knife and the drugs were turned over to DBPD for evidence. The 17-year-old was taken into custody and was charged with possessing a knife and heroin on campus. Copyright Southern Stone Communications 2018.
