DeLand, FL-Volusia Teachers Organization President Andrew Spar left last night's impasse meeting in DeLand vowing that the union would sue. The Volusia County School Board last night voted for teacher pay increases but tied that to teachers footing more of the cost of health insurance next year.

Spar said teachers were unhappy with the outcome.

The impasse meeting came after the two sides could not agree on terms of a new contract.

About a thousand teachers and supporters packed the four-hour meeting many wearing red t-shirts in a show of solidarity. An overflow area was used due to the size of the crowd at the meeting last night.
