missing word cloud Edgewater, FL - The FL Department of Law Enforcement (FDLE) says the human remains found in Edgewater on August 9 belong to 18-year-old Ashlyn Nicole Bowman, who's been missing since June 21. DNA testing was performed on the bone fragments found. The results indicate the remains came from the biological child of Carrie Ann Roehl and Harold T. Bowman, Ashlyn's parents. The FDLE lab report states, "The DNA profile from exhibit 1b [right femur bone fragment] was compared to those obtained from Carrie Ann Roehl and Harold T. Bowman. The DNA profile from exhibit 1b is consistent with having originated from the biological child of Carrie Ann Roehl and Harold T. Bowman." According to FDLE, the Reverse Parentage Index, a ratio that shows how much more likely it is that the tested DNA comes from the biological child rather than another random person, is about 37 trillion to 1. The Reverse Parentage Probability of Exclusion, which is the chance that a random individual will be excluded as the biological child, is about 99.99%. Testing done on the pajama pants that were found with the remains did not show that there was any semen present. A link to our story on when Bowman went missing can be found here.
